Gate Group Case Study

The Supply Chain Consulting Group Supports Tendering ‘Gate Free’ European Logistics Operations For Gategroup

Established in 2008 as an umbrella organization, gategroup was introduced, to build upon the core Gate Gourmet airline catering and provisioning business, and to recognize the Group’s evolution into a comprehensive provider of onboard products and services.

As a company, gategroup’s primary aim is to meet the fast-changing needs of their customers around the world, by offering end-to-end solutions through their group of companies. While each company addresses a specific market need, together they operate in an integrated manner, to provide their customers with a ‘one-stop-shop’.

gategroup is a leading global provider of products, services and solutions related to passengers’ onboard experience, specializing in catering and hospitality, provisioning and logistics; and onboard products and services to companies that serve people on the move.

gategroup wished to offer their ‘Gate free’ logistics operation out to tender, and due to understanding their specific knowledge and expertise of tender management, gategroup chose the Specialist Logistics and Supply Chain consultants at The Supply Chain Conssulting Group (SCCG) to conduct and coordinate this tender management project.

Under the scope of this project, the SCCG team of Specialist Consultants were required to provide specific deliverables, including but not limited to: a review of the tender objectives and scope for the European distribution requirements; Identifying, contacting and engaging suitable 3PLs to respond to the tender; managing all supplier communications, including Q&As concerning tender responses; and of course, to develop and write gategroup’s Invitation to Tender document (ITT).

SCCG followed a strategic process in order to successfully orchestrate gategroup’s ITT. The Consultants firstly ensured to review the tender objectives and scope for the European distribution requirements. Following this, an accurate model was drafted, and 3PLs suitable for the tender were identified and contacted.

SCCG drafted and issued gategroup’s ITT, ensuring to manage all supplier responses, with which a full analysis was later conducted, to provide gategroup with accurate and informed information regarding which supplier was best suited to their requirements for their ‘Gate free’ logistics operations.
